Zella Ann Winters went to be with our Lord Friday, February 12, 2016 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on August 27, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Glenn and Sarah Cole. As a result of her father working for Phillips 66 pipelines, she lived in many places growing up. Zella did not know a stranger. She was very patriotic and supported many churches with her contributions.
On August 15, 1952 she married Robert Dean Winters Sr. in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. She was a pitch player, loved to dance and was a member of the Granny League Bowlers in Garden City. She also loved spending time with all of her grandchildren and other family members when she could.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Winters Jr. and his wife, Robbe of Woodward, Oklahoma and Bud Winters and his wife, Kathryn of Hardtner, Kansas; daughter, Betty Guitron and her husband, Roy of Garden City, Kansas; three sisters, Lois McGarry and her husband, Jewell of Edmond, Oklahoma, Glenda Alexander and her husband, Jerry of Hardtner, Kansas and Opal McCracken and her husband, Mike of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Zella's husband, Robert Winters Sr. died March 23, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a great grandson, Conner Winters.
Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Hardtner, Kansas on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project through Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa, Kansas.
