Wayne B. Kerr

September 16, 1947 ~ January 1, 2022

Wayne B. Kerr, 74, of Hertford, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2022.

Wayne was born September 16, 1947 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Charles E. “Charlie” and Ulama “Toby” Kerr.  He grew up in Aline, Oklahoma and attended Aline Public Schools as well as Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma.  He enlisted in the Army and served active duty from 1967 - 1970 in Vietnam then returned to Oklahoma.  Wayne and his immediate family lived in several states surrounding Oklahoma for a period of time primarily working in sales, then returned to Oklahoma in 1982 to work in the oil fields before starting his landscaping business.  Later on, he moved to the east coast to enjoy the water in Hertford, North Carolina.

Wayne loved the water and never missed an opportunity to fish.  It didn’t matter if he was fishing with his hands in the Eagle Chief Creek in Aline, a pole on the bank of a pond, or a rod on a boat in the ocean.  Hand fishing in Eagle Chief Creek held many special memories for him.  Wayne always enjoyed an opportunity to play cards with family and friends whether it was hearts, spades, bridge, etc.  After the creation of the Internet, he became an avid bridge player with others around the world.  Wayne also enjoyed home improvement and landscaping projects.  He had the unique ability to envision what he wanted to create, develop the detailed plan, and make it happen.  Earlier in life, he did this physically for others with his business.  Later in life, he did the planning and was able to use his creativity for his own projects.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Toby Kerr in 1993 and Charlie Kerr in 2009; brother, Dennis Kerr in 2010; daughters, Angela Lynn Kerr in 1972 and Valerie Lynn Kerr in 2011.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Tammy George of Lancaster, South Carolina; son, Bryan Kerr of Bethel Acres, Oklahoma; son, Kevin Kerr of Port Aransas, Texas; mother of his children, Marie Kerr of Bethel Acres, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Christa Woods of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandson, Tristan Kerr of Riverside, California; grandson, Dylan Kerr of Shawnee, Oklahoma; brother, Charles E. Kerr, Jr. and wife, Margaret of Arizona City, Arizona; a host of nieces and nephews; caregiver, Frank; and his black Labrador retriever, Jeff.

To honor Wayne B.
