Wanda Evans

January 26, 1925 — August 8, 2014

Johnnie was born on January 26, 1925 near Gibbon, Oklahoma, the youngest of seven children born to Frank and Elma Mitchell Byers. She passed from this life on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Community Health Center in Wakita.

Johnnie attended Gibbon and Wakita Schools, graduating from Wakita High School in 1942. She and Glen D. Evans were married October 9, 1946 in Anthony, Kansas. They farmed and raised their family near Sand Creek. Johnnie worked at Wakita grocery stores for many years. She was a member of Fairview Christian Church of Sand Creek and also of Wakita Christian Church as well as Fairview Ladies Aid.

Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, on February 22, 1985; her parents; two brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her son, Dee Evans and wife, Shelly; her daughter, Valarie Zaloudek and husband, Monte and daughter, Nedra; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Johnnie's celebration of life service will be Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Wakita Christian Church with Pastor Jeff Enabnit officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery near Sand Creek. Viewing will be Tuesday at the funeral home in Medford 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The family has requested that memorials be made to Wakita Christian Church through the funeral home
