Anthony (Tony) Scott Meyer
Tony Meyer was born July 22, 1965, to Robert (Bob) and Cathy (Murray) Meyer in Waynoka, Oklahoma. After a courageous battle against brain cancer, Tony was surrounded by his family when he went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the age of 59.
Tony graduated from Helena-Goltry High School, where he enjoyed playing football and baseball and building in shop class. His interests in shop class and carpentry lead to a long career in the lumber and hardware business. Early in his career he worked at Jet Lumber then moved on to work at various other places, ending his career at Mill Creek Lumber in Broken Arrow. He also spent many years as a volunteer firefighter and Boy Scout assistant troop leader.
On December 30, 1989, he married the love of his life, Mechelle Sweatt, at Helena Christian Church. They had two children, Steven of Broken Arrow and Melanie (Schluns) of Warrensburg, Missouri.
Tony enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren, hunting, fishing, wood working, game night, small group, cooking for friends and family, and his annual 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza.
Tony is preceded in death by his father, Bob Meyer, and infant brother, Mitchell.
He is survived by his mother, Cathy of Helena; sister, Sherri of Oklahoma City; his wife, Mechelle of Broken Arrow; son, Steven of Broken Arrow; daughter, Melanie Schluns and husband, Chad of Warrensburg, Missouri, and three grandchildren, Liliana, Zayne and Axton.
Viewing for Tony will be at Lanman Funeral Home in Helena on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with the family present from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be Friday, August 23, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Good Hope Cemetery, Helena. A memorial service for Tony will be Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Northside Christian Church in Broken Arrow with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. www.lanmanfuneralhome.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
