Steven Schroeder

November 25, 1957 — January 14, 2014

Steven Ray Schroeder, age 57, died peacefully in his sleep at home in Yukon, Oklahoma on January 14th, 2014. Steve fought a long battle with a traumatic brain injury caused from a four-wheeler accident in August 2008. Even though he was confined to his wheel chair or bed, he never complained and always kept his humor. His memory of past events and people was ever present when visiting with friends and family.

On February 6th, 1981 he married the love of his life Song Cha Schroeder. To this union were born 2 children, Cody Ray and Christina Rose. They made their home in Aline, Lawton, and later in Cleo Springs. Steve was also a father to Bobby Collins, SongCha’s son, until his death in a motorcycle accident in 1988.

Steve loved bull riding, farming with his father, fishing, spending time with family and anything cowboy. He especially enjoyed family times at the “tent.” He worked in the oilfield for approximately 28 years. At the time of his accident he was as a Tool pusher for Cactus Drilling.
.
Steve was blessed with his first grandson, Ray Alan in December 2010. Ray and PaPa had a special bond, and you could see the pride in his eyes every time he looked at him or you mentioned Ray’s name.

Survivors include his wife Song Cha, his children Cody and Christina, Ken Elia; grandson, Ray; parents Ray “Fritz” and Connie Schroeder, Colleen and Jim Willms; his siblings Debbie and Jeff Crissup, Stan and Kristy Schroeder, Doug and Traci Bishard, Clint and Robyn Bishard, Wes and the late Jaylena Willms, and Vicki Barton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his step son, Bobby Collins, and niece Miranda Bishard.
