Okeene-Funeral service for Sabra Leanna Marts Rodgers will be Friday, November 25, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Okeene Methodist Church with burial at Roselawn Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Sabra was born March 9, 1941 to Jesse and Elenora Irvin Marts in Woodward and passed away November 21, 2016 in Okeene. She was in a tornado in Woodward in 1947. Her mother married Daddy-Glen Brown when she was six. She was in many school activities. Her jobs included working at Southwestern Bell, working at the nursing home as a cook, working as a waitress, being an aide at a state hospital and operating a printing press. She married Phil Rodgers August 14, 1971.
She started painting with water colors when she was thirteen. At the age of sixteen she switched to painting with oils. Her hobbies included bowling, stamp collecting, genealogy, cooking and paper dolls. Her two great loves in life, besides Phil and the kids, were singing and family reunions. She loved her family more than words could ever express. Her singing was not the best or the worst, but when she sang her heart sang. She loved to have her nieces and nephews for the summer and was honored to have Becky Walker as a God-child.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Nikki in 2000.
She is survived by her husband, Phil Rodgers; daughter, Patti Carlson (Keith), Sherri Watts (Terry), Kelly Burghardt (Jim); son, Glen Rodgers (Julie).
P.S. Wonder why the word fun is in funeral. I sure loved to live!
