Goltry-Funeral service for Ruth will be Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church in Goltry. Burial will follow at Karoma Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The casket will not be open at the church memorials may be given to First Congregational Ladies Aid through the funeral home.
Ruth was born on March 20, 1923 to Cyrus Simmons and Edith Call Simmons in Enid and passed from this life on February 7, 2017 in Fairview. In April of 1941 Ruth married Richard “Dick” William Tyner in Enid. After marriage Ruth and Dick lived in the Goltry area on a farm. After living on the farm for 35 years, Dick and Ruth moved into Goltry. Ruth followed all of her children and grandchildren’s events throughout the years. Dick and Ruth loved to travel. She was always ready to go. Ruth was a member of First Congregational Church in Goltry, Eastern Star, women’s bridge club, MWG Club and Goltry Extension Club. She was a gourmet cook and had the opportunity to entertain the chef of the World Trade Center several times in her home, and the chef asked for several of her recipes. Ruth was also an excellent seamstress and exercised this skill to dress her family, including her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Jan Voss and husband, Gordon and Richard “Rick” Tyner and wife, Kay; four grandchildren, Ty Voss and wife, Tracy Muller, Dru Voss and wife, Sandie, Abbey Tyner Berls and husband, Frederick and William “Will” Tyner and wife, Kristina; eight great grandchildren, Katie, Austin and Jack Voss, Sophie and Madeleine Berls, Grant, Andrew and Emma Tyner.
Those who preceded Ruth in death include her husband, Dick in 1990, four brothers and one sister.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the First Congregational Church Ladies Aid through the funeral home.
