Ruth Polson, a devoted housewife and mother, passed away peacefully on August 25 2024, in Kiowa, Kansas. She was born on July 6 1933, in Wisconsin. She completed her high school education in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Ruth married Lonnie Polson and to this union three sons were born: Steven, David, and Dwight. Ruth lived a life characterized by her deep commitment to family, community, and faith.
A cherished member of her community, Ruth was an active participant in the Cherokee Methodist Church during her younger years, known for her thoughtful gesture of sending birthday cards to all church members. Throughout her life, she embraced various organizations, demonstrating her dedication and enthusiasm. She was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi, where she achieved an impressive fifty years of perfect attendance. Additionally, found joy in being part of the Red Hat Society, Extension Homemakers, Eastern Star, and Gold Star Mothers. A true sports enthusiast, she had a particular affection for the Dallas Cowboys, which brought her much joy and excitement.
Ruth’s legacy is carried on by her loving sons, Steven Polson, David Polson, and Dwight Polson. She was a proud grandmother to Micah Polson, Madison Polson, and Morgan Polson, and a delighted great-grandmother to Emersyn Polson, with another great-granddaughter on the way.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie; her parents, Dwight and Alice Hoskins, her infant sister Lorraine Polson, and her brothers Captain John Hoskins and David Hoskins.
A graveside service honoring Ruth’s life will take place on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Hawley Cemetery near Hawley Oklahoma, at 2:00 PM. Viewing will be Thursday August 29, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. in Cherokee.
