Roxie Blunk

June 9, 1947 — December 2, 2022

Kiowa, Kansas

Roxie Lorene Blunk was born June 9, 1947 to John and Iris Snead in Hardtner, Kansas and passed away at her home December 2, 2022 at the age of 75.  On August 27, 1966 Roxie married her high school sweetheart, Randy Blunk.  To this marriage two children were born: Rod and Ronda.

Roxie grew up in Hardtner and spent most of her time playing with neighbor kids or helping her daddy until she started school.  Little did she know when she started the first grade, her future husband was in the second grade.  Roxie loved sports, but girls were not allowed to participate so she chose to become a cheerleader.  She also played the snare drum and was the majorette in the marching band.  The highlight for her was marching in the Northwestern Homecoming Parade.  Roxie was also chosen as Miss Hardtner and participated in the Miss Cinderella Pageant.  Roxie’s parents taught her the importance of religion by taking her to Sunday School at a young age.  She had perfect attendance almost every year.  When she started high school she began teaching the little kids in Sunday School.  Roxie loved little kids and enjoyed babysitting as well.

After graduating from high school, she attended cosmetology school in Pratt, Kansas.  In 1966 after she and Randy Blunk were married, they moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma, where Randy was enrolled in pharmacy school.  Roxie worked as a waitress for 3 ½ years to help put Randy through pharmacy school. She loved being a waitress, because all the other waitresses’ husbands were also in college.

Roxie’s favorite thing in the whole world was being a Granny to Whitney, Kadee, Chloe, Dakota and Cort.  She was so proud of her grandkids and loved going to watch them participate in their activities.  She was always their #1 fan.

For 40 years Roxie cooked for up to 11 men at a time during their harvest years.  She was an amazing cook and loved taking care of the crew.  Roxie also enjoyed playing bridge with her lady friends twice a month.  The General Store was also a highlight for Roxie.  Her job was taking care of all the toys.  She will be missed by all!

Roxie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Iris Snead.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Blunk; her son, Rod Blunk and wife, Julie of Hardtner; her daughter, Ronda Hall and husband, Shannon of Loco, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Chloe and Cort Blunk, Whitney, Kadee Belle, and Dakota Jo Hall.
