Richard Root

Richard E. “Rick” Root, age 72, of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Enid, Oklahoma.  He was born on January 7, 1948, in Blue Springs, Missouri, to Elvin D. “Ike” and Ruby Odom Root.

Rick grew up in Missouri, and Enid, Oklahoma, but most of his boyhood was in Homestead, Oklahoma. Always surrounded by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lots of love. He was honorably discharged after serving 2 years in the U. S. Army. He operated his own bob-tail truck business.

Rick was always happy to see us when we would get together. He would give the sweetest hugs to his sisters-in-law. We will miss him, his smiles and laughter at our next get together.

Rick is survived by his daughters, Elisa (David) Bradford, Tina (William) Norton; brothers, Dave (Lue Ann) Root of Enid, Oklahoma, Kenny Root of Homestead, Oklahoma; grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and so many good friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Ruby Root, two brothers, Bill Root and Dale Root; a niece, Tammy Crews.

The family graveside service will be held at Homestead Cemetery on Saturday, September 26, 2020.  Burial will follow the graveside service at Homestead Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Okeene.  www.lanmanmemorials.com
