Randall (Randy) Lynn Abla, son of Fred Melvin and Rosa Faye Abla, was born on November 17, 1953 in Erick, Oklahoma. He passed peacefully on May 30, 2020 near Pretty Prairie, Kansas at the age of 66.
Randy graduated from Erick High School and then attended Oklahoma State University of Technical Training in Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he obtained his degree in diesel mechanics. After graduation he moved to Liberal, Kansas to work for Halliburton Energy Services where he worked for 32 years. On October 20, 1979, he was united in marriage to Linda Jo Hamilton in Liberal, Kansas. They made their home just outside of Liberal and it was there that they raised their three children, Melissa, Machelle and James.
Randy enjoyed being very active within his community and lending a helping hand wherever needed. He actively attended Central Christian Church in Liberal, Kansas, served on the school board for Southwestern Heights USD 483 for several years and served on the board of the Rolling Hills Land Association. In 2011, Randy went to work for Weatherford as a dispatcher and then continued as an operator until his retirement at the age of 62. He then started a business called Randy’s Lawnmower Repair. Randy enjoyed spending time with his family and had many hobbies. He loved fishing, bird hunting, tinkering on small engines, boating and taking his family to the lake.
Randy was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Abla; father, Fred Melvin Abla; mother, Rosa Faye and two brothers, Jerrel Abla and Duane Abla.
He is survived by partner, Marilyn Labra and family of Pretty Prairie, Kansas; his daughters, Melissa of Oklahoma, Machelle Zook and husband, Caleb and their children, Kennedy and Kade of Waynoka, Oklahoma; son, James Abla and his fiancée, Jordan of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Melva Barker of Reydon, Oklahoma; one brother, Kirby Abla of Darlington, South Carolina; father-in-law, Art Hamilton of Bella Vista, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Rohn and wife, Kris of Augusta, Kansas; sister-in-law, Marsha and husband, Randy of Salina, Kansas. He also has numerous nieces and nephews and many friends and relatives.
Funeral service for Randy will be Friday, June 5, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at New Song Church in Waynoka. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. www.lanmanmemorials.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
