Pauline England

England, Pauline H., 90, of Goddard, Kansas and formerly of Medford, Oklahoma, died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at her residence of Medical Lodge of Goddard. She was born February 11, 1924, on the family farm near Wakita, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charlie and Blanche Cink. Pauline spent much of her life in Grant County, Oklahoma where she attended Meikle Country School. When she started school, she only knew the Czech language but learned English quickly. She graduated from Wakita High School, then moved to Wichita and attended Wichita Business College graduating in 1943. While attending Business College, she worked at the Fourth National Bank doing war bonds. She then worked for Boeing one year in the office until the war ended.

She married the love of her life, James England, Jr. on June 4, 1947 on her family farm near Wakita, Oklahoma. They made their home on the farm in rural Grant County, Oklahoma, originally homesteaded by Jim's grandfather in 1893. They were married 54 years when Jim passed away suddenly in January 2002. They worked side-by-side farming for over 50 years. Pauline also worked at Scottianne's Dress Shop and the Medford Nursing Home while helping Jim with the farming. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, playing cards, her exercising class, traveling, and especially spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and always enjoyed hosting dinners for family and friends. She will always be remembered for some of our favorite dishes, such as chicken and noodles, fried chicken, German chocolate cake and kolache. She was very fond of her Czech heritage and was always up for a polka.

Pauline is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mildred Hunter and a brother, Larry Cink.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Chuck and daughter-in-law, Shari England of Medford, Oklahoma; her daughter, Debbie and son-in-law Rick Krehbiel of St. Mark, Kansas; six grandchildren, Trever and his wife, Jenny, Kylie and her husband, Brady, and Garrett, all of St. Mark, Kansas, Cory and his wife of Enid, Oklahoma, Cole and his wife, Kari of Piedmont, Oklahoma, and Kaci and her husband, Joshua of Piedmont, Oklahoma and the joys of her life-her great-grandchildren, Jak, Eva, Ela, Max, Lilah, Graham, Owen, Braxtyn, Tiffany, Gabrielle, Mackenzie, Eli, Samuel, and Laz and her special nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pauline was a member of Caldwell VFW Auxiliary and the First United Methodist Church in Medford, Oklahoma where her funeral will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Jenkins and Chaplain Bob Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bluff City, Kansas at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Medford through Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford, Oklahoma.
