Patricia Louise “Pat” Eck Gwinn was born on March 17, 1938, reportedly in Halstead, Kansas, where her parents Elmer and Ida Johnson Eck were vacationing. Pat grew up on the family farm between Helena and Goltry and attended both communities’ schools, graduating from Helena High School in 1956.
In 1954 she and Roger Gwinn were united in marriage. To this union two children, Roxie and Jo, were born. Pat attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University, worked for her mother at Ida’s Drug Store, worked for Richard DeVaughn, D.D.S., for the George Failing Company, and had a career as the superintendent’s secretary at Helena-Goltry Schools, where she retired after 25 years.
Pat loved collecting antiques, was an accomplished painter, and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed travel, life, her family, and playing dominoes with the girls.
Pat entered eternity with Jesus on November 8, 2020, and was reunited there with her parents, sister, and Roger.
She is survived by Roxie and Joe Bryant, Jo and Laurie Gwinn; seven grandchildren: Travis (Krista) Bryant, Tyler Gwinn, Spencer (Jasmine) Bryant, Summer, Will, Pete, and Lars Gwinn; eight great-grandchildren, Avery, Addison, Sylvia, Guy, Roxanna, Beau, Hazel, and Abigail Bryant.
