Patricia “Trish” Ann Hise, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away suddenly on September 3, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on May 6, 1946, in Buffalo, New York, Patricia was proud of her Native American heritage from the Mohawk Tribe, a cultural background that played a significant role in shaping her identity throughout her life.
Patricia's professional life was marked by her dedication as a bookkeeper for Major County Rural Water. Her career exemplified her strong work ethic, and she was respected by her colleagues for her meticulous attention to detail.
Throughout her life, Patricia was a vibrant member of her community. She was actively involved with the Cleo Springs First Christian Church, where her contributions touched many lives through her charitable works and unwavering support. In addition to her church activities, she generously volunteered for local initiatives such as Friends of Cleo Springs, the Sod House, and the Major County Election Board. Patricia cherished her involvement with the "Lunch Bunch," where friendships blossomed over shared meals and laughter.
Anyone that knew Trish or ever held a conversation with her knew about her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her faith was important to her, and she lived the life being a faithful doer of the Word in growing God’s kingdom here on earth. She would attend Bible studies and other services if she felt it would help her grow in her relationship with Jesus. Anyone who had Trish as a friend will forever remember and cherish her daily posts on Facebook. Each of her posts touched so many and were part of her daily time with God. She had a name for each day: Savior Sunday, Merciful Monday, Trusting Tuesday, Worshipful Wednesday, Thankful Thursday, Faithful Friday, and Saved Saturday. Rather it be a scripture passage or faithful words of wisdom, Trish called these “Sparkling Gems.” Words for all who would read them to live by, to find faith in God, and to trust God has it all in His hands. Her last post she made said, “When life gives you limes, rearrange the letters until they smile.” Trish was known for her contagious smile and her love she had for Jesus and everyone she met.
Patricia's love for sports was evident as she was a devoted fan of both Oklahoma State University football and the Buffalo Bills.
Family was of utmost importance to Patricia. She met her husband, Joe Hise, in Alaska while working as a civil servant, where he was serving in the Air Force. Their love story began in that beautiful state, culminating in a wedding on July 9, 1968, a private ceremony that marked the start of their journey together. Following their wedding, they embarked on a honeymoon journey to Colorado Springs in a Volkswagen Beetle, where their daughter was later born at the Air Force Academy.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Joe Hise; her daughter, Kimberly Hensley, and her husband, Bradley Hyatt; her grandchildren, Kale Hensley, Nash Hensley, Shelbi Hyatt, and Grace Hyatt; her great-grandchildren, Chevi Brown and William Brown; her sister, Carolyn Sardina; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will deeply miss her presence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Gladys Martin, as well as one brother and two sisters.
A memorial service to honor Patricia's life will be held on September 20, 2024, at Cleo Springs First Christian Church, beginning at 10:30 AM, with burial to follow in the Square Cedar Cemetery. As her family and friends gather to celebrate her life, they will remember a woman whose legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of all those she touched.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Trish Hise Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.
