Patricia Armbruster

May 30, 1937 — June 17, 2022

Burlington, OK

Patricia Anne Miller Armbruster was born May 30, 1937 to Cecil and Clara (Diel) Miller in Kiowa, Kansas. She went to be with her Lord and Savior, as family was by her side, on June 17, 2022. She had just had her 85th birthday.

Patricia grew up on the Oklahoma state line near Kiowa, Kansas. She was the oldest of four daughters: Judy and twin sisters, Jana and Janice. She graduated from Kiowa in 1955, and remained close to many of her classmates. On August 11, 1957, she married Charles Armbruster. They began their married life in Stillwater while Charles finished up his degree at Oklahoma State University. Soon after, Charles and Patricia made their home on the farm south of Burlington.

Growing up and helping her mother raise and care for her younger sisters, Patricia always loved caring for babies and children. Together, Charles and Patricia had four children of their own–Teresa, Tara, Scott, and Curtis. She was a very loving and dedicated mother, and she took such joy in caring for her family. She was always ready to share in their successes and accomplishments. In addition to being a devoted mother and wife, Patricia greatly cherished being a grandma and great grandma. She was known to many beyond her own grandchildren as “Grandma Pat” in the Burlington and Cherokee communities.

Patricia’s loving and caring nature prompted her to purchase a second home in Cherokee to open her own home care for children. Her childcare home came to be known to many as the “Little House.” For over 25 years, she cared for countless babies and children, loving them all as her own.

Patricia was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Cherokee for close to 50 years. She volunteered many summers to travel with the kids to Falls Creek and cook meals during camp. She enjoyed working with children at church.

Patricia was an avid homemaker and was an active and proud member of the Home Extension Club. She loved sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, and refinishing furniture. She was very passionate about reading and music–especially when she could share her love for each of these with children.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Harms and husband, Jason of Byron, daughter, Tara Armbruster of Cherokee, son, Scott Armbruster and wife, Allison of Burlington; her grandchildren,  Andrew and Heather Cumbie, Erika and Matt Chapman, Seth and Bobbi Harms, Lauren Harms and Conner Anderson, Sarah and Will Becker, Ashley and Gunnar Kelly, Heather and Jared Minson, and Jonathan Armbruster; her great grandchildren, Brianna, Kaylee, and Emma Cumbie, Layla and Chase Chapman, Scarlett, Axel, and Wilder Harms, Clara Anderson, Revie and Macklin Becker, Ava and Peyton Kelly, and Jay Minson, and her two sisters, Judy Martin and husband, Stanley, and Janice Simpson and husband, Terry.

Her parents, Cecil and Clara Miller; husband, Charles; son, Curtis; sister, Jana Blue, and granddaughter, Emily Harms were present to welcome her home into Heaven.
