Ringwood-A celebration of life and remembrance for Nancy Elvera Sodowsky, 90, of Ringwood, will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at Ringwood United Methodist Church. Pastor Terrill Parvin will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery west of Meno. Visitation is Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5-7 at Lanman Funeral Home in Helena.
Nancy was born June 2, 1924, in Meno, Oklahoma to Albert Lloyd and Glyde (Smith) Campbell and passed away Friday, January 30, 2015, in Enid. She graduated from Ringwood High School as Valedictorian in 1941. She was active in sports and was a cheerleader and basketball queen. Nancy married Lee Sodowsky on June 8, 1941. Lee predeceased her in 1997 after 56 years of happily married life.
Nancy had been a member of and active in Ringwood United Methodist Church since 1940 including many years as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of UMW, Ringwood Community Club and Pleasant Hill Cemetery Board. She worked at Enid State School and served as inspector for county elections in the local precinct. She volunteered at Ringwood Elementary. She followed the sports and various activities of her children and grandchildren. She delivered meals for Wheatheart. She loved to babysit her grandkids.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, one grandson, two sons-in-law, three sisters and ten brothers.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Wunderlich of California; six children - Carolyn Overstreet of Kansas, Nancy and Ted Heinrich of Tuttle, Elden and Allyn Sodowsky of Virginia, Lynn and Linda Sodowsky, Jayniece and Richard Cornell, Tim and Joy Sodowsky, all of Ringwood; eighteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Ringwood United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
