Mildred Gammon

May 12, 1915 — January 17, 2014

Mildred Evelyn Harris Gammon was born May 12, 1915 in Byron to Charles E. and Mary Belle Cox Harris and passed from this life on January 17, 2014 in Oklahoma City. She moved to Cherokee with her family at an early age and later to a farm northwest of Carmen, where she attended school. In 1931 she married Glen Gammon, and they continued to reside in Cherokee until his death in 1970. Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church, Mr. and Mrs. Sunday School Class and C.W.F. Promise Group. She served as Cherokee City Clerk for eight years and Alfalfa County Deputy Court Clerk for twelve years.

She is survived by two sons, Donald E. Gammon and wife, Beverly of Yuma, Arizona and Rovert G. Gammon of Oklahoma City; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters; a brother and one grandson.

Funeral service for Mildred will be Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at First Christian Church in Cherokee with Rev. Tom Stanley and Rev. Don Gibson officiating. Viewing will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery..
