Hazelton-Graveside service for Michael B. Hoffman will be Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Rose Hill Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Warren Stanton officiating. There will be no viewing per family request.
Michael was born April 12, 1962 in Hardtner, Kansas, the son of Jim and Pat Hoffman. He was living in Lawrence, Kansas and had been working for Community Living Opportunities as Director of Day Services for Douglas County, working with mentally challenged adults since 1998. He met his best buddy, Barkley on July 4, 2005. Barkley learned simple sign language as a part-time therapy dog. The clients could ask him for one of his toys. He also knew the color of his toys and they all had a name - or - not going to play with that one. Mike thoroughly enjoyed his work and was even thinking about early retirement. He became Day Care Manager about four years ago.
Those who preceded Michael in death are his grandparents, Lester and Margaretrose Hoffman and Glen and Louise Hunsaker.
Those who survive are his parents, Jim and Pat Hoffman; his brother, Carey Hoffman as well as aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
Memorials may be made to Community Living Opportunities through the funeral home.
