Melanie Dawn was born April 3, 1976, to Clayton S. Kehnemund and Sherry Ann (Crawford) Gray in Enid, Oklahoma.
She was raised and educated in Tucumcari, NM and Ames, Oklahoma. Following graduation from Cimarron High School in 1994, she attended college at Oklahoma State University. In 2005, she married Stephen S. Powers. To this union was born two daughters, Kendyl Ann (Powers) Repp and Samantha Paige Powers.
Melanie was loved by many far and wide. She loved her small hometown of Ames and the smalltown childhood life and experiences her community provided. She returned the love by striving to assist everyone in their time of need going above and beyond. She dedicated her life to the surrounding communities, family and friends she loved so dearly. She was a member of Ames First Baptist Church where she proudly served the Lord.
Melanie was a beloved mother, Lala to be, daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter and friend. She did not know a stranger.
Melanie is survived by her daughters, Kendyl Ann (Powers) and Carter Repp and baby, Wesson of Meno, OK, Samantha Paige Powers of Enid, OK; grandmother, Mary Louise Crawford; mother, Sherry Ann (Crawford) Gray of Waukomis, OK; Clayton and Gayle Kehnemund of Tucumcari, NM; sisters, Candice M. Blalock of Lockhart, TX, and Amanda Waller, and spouse Brandon, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert Eugene Crawford, LeRoy and Dorothy Kehnemund, Constance (Connie) Ann Duncan, and Terry Lynn (Crawford) Seay.
Funeral service will be Monday, October 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ames First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Ames Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. www.lanmanfuneralhome.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
