Maxine Nelson

Maxine Madge Rowley Nelson, 89, passed from this life on Sunday, April 30, 2017 in Kiowa, Kansas. She was born on August 21, 1927 in Neodesha, Kansas to Lee and Minnie Rowley and soon afterward, the family moved to WaKeeney, Kansas where Maxine graduated from WaKeeney Grade School and High School. She spent one year at the University of Missouri, and then worked at a life insurance company in Kansas City for a short time. She later returned to WaKeeney where she met the love of her life, Paul E. Nelson, a high school teacher. They were married in 1947 and spent six more years in WaKeeney. The family moved to Belle Plaine, and later to Kiowa where Maxine worked for many years as a paraprofessional. She enjoyed her years with the children and teachers in the Kiowa School System very much.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Paul; two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by a sister, Winifred of Charlotte, North Carolina; son, Bill of Wichita; son, Mark of Gilbert, Arizona; daughter, Jan Pinamonti of Gold Bar, Washington; grandsons, Andrew and Tristan Pinamonti; granddaughter, Michelle Meras; grandchildren, Trey and Azalea Davalos and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Maxine will be Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Kiowa with Rev. Keith Fink officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Kiowa First Methodist Church through the funeral home.
