Cleo Springs-Mattie Mae Wilcox was born April 4, 1929 at Galena, Oklahoma, the daughter of Claude Harmon and Clara Stevens Harmon and passed from this life on January 1, 2015 in Enid, Oklahoma. She grew up in the Cleo Springs area where she met Alvin Wilcox and they married in 1947. Mattie enjoyed her cup of coffee in the morning, gardening, canning and playing family games with her family and friends. Most of all was her love of quilting. As an avid quilter, she and her lady friends gathered at each other's homes where they had lunch and quilted. Mattie worked for the Election Board, and also loved cooking and serving at the Senior Citizen's Center in Cleo Springs.
Mattie is survived by her brothers, Bobbie Harmon and wife, Peggy of Sun City, Arizona and Buddie Harmon and wife, Joann of Enid; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mattie will be greatly missed by all her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Wilcox; her parents, Claude and Clara Harmon; brothers, Alfred Harmon, Fred Harmon and two infant brothers.
Celebration service will be Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Elm Flat Independent Christian Church, rural Cleo Springs, with Pastor Len Coulter officiating. Burial will be in Aline Star Cemetery by her beloved husband, Alvin. Viewing will be Monday 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
