Marvin W. Janzen, born August 2, 1918 in Gotebo, Oklahoma to John J. Janzen and Susie Anna Voth Janzen, went to be with his Lord on September 27, 2013 at the age of 95. The family moved to Medford when Marvin was approximately two years of age. He attended school in Medford and Oklahoma Bible Academy. He married Regina Pauline Isaacs on October 17, 1939 and to this union three children were born: two sons and a daughter.
He successfully farmed, raising wheat and cattle, seeing major changes in the methods of farming over many years. He retired in 2008. Marvin was an active member of the Medford Mennonite Church, where he served for many years as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and also served in many other areas as he saw a need. He was very mission minded by working with the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), canning meat and helping with the Annual Relief Sale. He unselfishly gave his time and resources to anyone that had a need. Marvin was one of the founding members of R & C Water District, where he served on the board for twenty-one years.
He was preceded in death by Regina, his wife of sixty-nine years and his parents.
He is survived by Duaine Janzen and his wife, Linda of Okmulgee; Argyle Janzen and his wife, Bonnie of Medford and Vivian Cooper and her husband, Al of Broken Arrow.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Eric Janzen, Angela Birmingham, Michelle Penner, Travis Janzen, Shauna Cooper, Justin Cooper, Brandon Cooper; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
