Marilyn R Wirtz
September 16, 1937 - June 23, 2021
Marilyn R. Wirtz, age 83, was born on September 16, 1937 in Deer Creek to Cyril Shipley and Mary Haunschild-Shipley and passed from this life on June 23, 2021 in Enid. She married Bill Wirtz on January 26, 1957 in Deer Creek. They lived and farmed near Renfrow for many years.
Marilyn’s first love was serving the Lord Jesus Christ in various ways, mainly using her God gifted talent of playing the piano at every church service and at home. She had a loving heart for her family and never met a stranger. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, driving the wheat truck at harvest time, flying with her husband, Bill, and making waffles on Saturday mornings for Cris and Jeff. She was a member of the Deer Creek Christian Church and accepted Jesus Christ at that church and started using her piano talents then until it closed. She then joined the Medford First Baptist Church and continued playing the piano. She worked for about twenty-five years for the Grant County Assessors office and enjoyed working with people. She had a tremendous work ethic and always went the extra mile to make someone happy and feel good.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Debra Cless and her children, Robbie and Nicky Cless of Medford; her son, Cris Wirtz and wife, Vickey of Medford and their children, Chad and Amy Tebow of Edmond and Trisha and Scott Sterling of Medford. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Brice Cless of Holdenville, Blake and Shelby Cless of Enid, Baily Cless of Medford, Emily Tebow and Cash Tebow of Edmond, Makenna Sterling and her fiancé, Ethan Montgomery of Alva, Kalyn Sterling and Zoe Sterling of Medford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril Shipley and Mary Haunschild-Shipley; her husband, Bill; son, Larry, son-in-law, Larry Cless; grandson, Jeff Cless, and brother, Gaylord Shipley.
