Marilyn was born to Susie Bayliff Garner and Glenn Garner on a farm near Cherokee and passed from this life in Enid. She attended Cherokee Schools and later Beeches Beauty School. She married Garold Parker on February 21, 1953 in Waynoka. Marilyn and Garold had four children: Darrell, Dale, Debbie and Donnie. They lived in Waynoka and Hoisington, Kansas before returning to Cherokee. Marilyn owned and operated Marilyn's Beauty Shop for many years. She worked with Dr. Doutey at the vet clinic and sale barn. Marilyn custom harvested with her family and ran Double D Kennel for more than thirty years. She later raised goats with her husband. She enjoyed helping with the Western Belles and the local 4-H and FFA clubs. She taught dog obedience and showed on the AKC dog circuit. She enjoyed raising animals and watching sports.
She was preceded in death by Garold, husband of more than fifty years; her parents; sisters-in-law, Alta Dannar and Pat James; brothers-in-law, Leslie Lyon, Howard Dannar, Dean Parker and Elmer Parker.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Darrell Parker, Dale Parker and Donnie and Karen Parker all of Cherokee; Debbie and Gary Stoner of Carmen; grandchildren, Kelly and Lisa Parker, Brian and Darraigh Parker of Alva, Cory and Amy Clafflin of Ulyss, Texas, Christopher Parker, Cathy and Vest Mike of Cherokee, Jeremy and Abby Stoner of Guthrie, Leica and Aaron Harmon of Stillwater, Nancy and Jess Mathis, Delinda and Michael Utterback all of Cherokee, Amanda Waterhouse of Dodge City, Kansas; great grandchildren, Lauren and Kade Parker, Caydence and Kord Parker, Conner and Hunter Clafflin, Dalton and Robert Parker, George Frey Jazmine Vest, Hannah, Payton, Kendyl and Taylor Stoner, Addison and Brylee Harmon, Waylon and Everett Utterback, Dakota Parker, Sandra and Tate Mathis,- Caleb and Noah Waterhouse and Trinity Guzman; sisters-in-law, Golda Lyon of Cherokee, Lethaand Kenneth Ellison of Stark City, Missouri, Irene Dannar and Verna Davidson of Waynoka. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside service for Marilyn will be Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Viewing will be Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Carmen United Methodist Church Building Fund through the funeral home.
