Marilyn Fredrick, age 86, of Medford, OK, passed away on August 1, 2024, at Via Christi Living Center in Ponca City, OK with one of her daughters beside her. She was born on October 15, 1937, to Clemme “Paul” Fauchier and Laura “Mildred” (Gammon) Fauchier in Blackwell, OK. She grew up in Nardin, OK and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1955.
She married Ernie R. Fredrick of Deer Creek, OK on Dec. 29, 1954. Following his military service, they moved to the farm northeast of Medford, OK where she worked tirelessly beside her husband as a farm wife—or as she called it, “Chief Cook and Bottle Washer”, while raising six stairstep children. Throughout her life, she was a member of the Church of Christ in Deer Creek and then later in life, they attended the First Christian Church of Medford for several years, where she also assisted as one of the pianists.
Marilyn was incredibly gifted in many ways—she had a beautiful alto voice, was an accomplished pianist, and an expert seamstress, sharing her gifts throughout the years with those blessed to be near her. Fulfilling her first calling as farm wife, mother, and grandmother, in her later years, she enjoyed her time as a realtor after receiving her license and working for Hometown Realtors in Blackwell, OK.
In addition to her parents, who passed before she reached the age of twenty, preceding her in death were her brothers, Paul Warren Fauchier and Wallace (Wally) Fauchier; her late husband, Ernie R. Fredrick in 2021, and her great-granddaughter Jolene Harkin in 2023. Her greatest blessing, she would say, was to have never had to bury one of her children.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Cary Fredrick and wife Beth; Craig Fredrick and wife Shelley; Shari England and husband Chuck; Debbie Sprague; Daron Fredrick; and Brad Fredrick, along with thirteen grandchildren Eric and Dan Fredrick; Megan Roberts; Cory England, Cole England and Kaci Baldwin; Devin Sprague; and Shane Fredrick and Alison Fredrick; and Rachel Fredrick, Kelsey Wagner, Amber Richards and Tara Fredrick, and 23 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Medford on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery in Nardin following the service at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Medford. www.lanmafuneralhome.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
