Margaret Smith

Margaret Ann Doll Smith, born in Enid on June 5, 1947 and a long-time resident of Ponca City, passed away in Tulsa on June 11, 2018 at the age of 71. Graveside service will be Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Meno. Margaret graduated from Ringwood High School in 1965 and married her high school sweetheart, Danny Smith.  She was a high school varsity athlete and enjoyed playing sports after moving with her husband and young family to Ponca City.  While they made their home in Ponca City for most of the last 50 years, they also lived in Alva and twice made Katy, Texas their home.  Margaret dedicated much of her time and energy to the First Presbyterian Church and other volunteer activities in Ponca City including serving as an Elder and Deacon in the church, Moderator of Presbyterian Women, Treasurer of Cimarron Presbyterian Women, past President of the Ponca City Federated Music Club, past President and long-time driver for Meals on Wheels, and several years preparing monthly meals for the Friendship Feast.  She was active in the PTA and band parents’ organizations while the kids were in Ponca City schools.  Margaret enjoyed singing in the church choir and playing bridge in as many as four regular bridge groups.  She also enjoyed traveling the world with her family to visit family and friends living abroad.

She is survived by her mother-in-law, Vera McNickle  of Enid; son, Troy Smith and wife, Barbara of Broken Arrow; daughter, LaDonna Dennis of Enid; brother, Mike Doll and wife, Judy of Ringwood; sister-in-law, Karen Howard and husband, Mike of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, David Dennis of Enid, Ross Smith and wife, Britelle of Chicago, and Emily Smith of Broken Arrow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Smith; parents, Lewis and Mabel Doll; father-in-law, Everett Smith and brother, David Doll and sister-in-law, Sherill Easterday.
