Mabel Metcalf

June 19, 1915 — March 7, 2013

Stillwater, formerly Jet-Mabel Metcalf, 97, passed from this life on March 7, 2013 at Grace Living Center in Stillwater. Funeral service for will be Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Jet United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Cherokee.

Mabel Metcalf was born on June 19, 1915 in Magnolia, Arkansas, the daughter of Warren Jack and Pinkie Eugenia Dismukes Parham. Mabel served in the Army Air Force, 2518th Army Air Force Base Unit from 1943-1945. She was stationed at Vance Air Base in Enid. She was proud of her military service. She met her husband, Dale Metcalf, while stationed at Vance. They married on May 2, 1947 and lived and farmed in the Jet area. Mabel was a longtime resident of Jet. She was a member of the Jet United Methodist Church, House Mom at Tri Delt and Kappa Kappa Gamma Sororities at Oklahoma State University. She was an active bowler and golfer.

Survivors include her son Lee Metcalf and wife, Susan of Paulsbo, Washington; her daughter, Jeanette Nazemetz and husband, John of Stillwater; one granddaughter, Solvei Metcalf; one brother, Woodrow Parham of Tulsa.

Those who preceded Mabel in death include her husband, Dale Metcalf; sister, Corine Taylor; brothers, Harold Parham and John Paul Parham.
