Lynn Dean Shepard, Sr., age 65 of Deerfield Beach, Florida departed this life on October 31, 2013 after battling cancer, with his loved ones by his side. Lynn was born October 21, 1948, the firstborn son of Lowell Shepard and Carole Cronin Shepard in Enid.
Lynn graduated from Helena High School in 1966, participating in Football and FFA. He was the chapter Star Farmer under Ag instruction of Homer Evans and played football under Coach Ray Troutt. He then attended Oklahoma State University. He later began his lifelong career in Non-Destructive Testing in Washington, Pennsylvania in 1971. He moved his business and family to South Florida in 1980, where the business continues to thrive today. Over his forty-three years as a successful business leader, he has employed hundreds of people worldwide. His other life passions included traveling the United States collecting antiques and John Deere Tractors, wheat and cattle farming in Oklahoma and sport fishing the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of South Florida.
Lynn is survived by his mother, Carole Cronin Shepard of Helena; Donna, his wife of twenty-seven years of Deerfield Beach, Florida; his children, Jason D. Shepard and wife, Telena and family of Walhalla, South Carolina, Leisa Shepard of Thurmond, North Carolina, Lynn Shepard, Jr. of Central Florida, Jordan Shepard of Boca Raton, Florida and Alex Shepard of Oakland, California; his grandchildren, Tyler Shepard of Asheville, North Carolina and Cassia Shepard of Boca Raton, Florida; brother, David Shepard and wife, Linda; sisters, Virginia Powell and husband, Vernon, Debbie Slovacek and husband, Vernon, both of Helena and sister, Diana Gray and late husband, Melvin Gray of Drummond and many nieces and nephews.
Those who preceded Lynn in death include his father, Lowell Oliver Shepard; his grandparents, Virgil Shepard and Goldie Hawkins Shepard and Jess Cronin and Ruby Clark Cronin.
Celebration service for Lynn will be Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Helena. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church through the funeral home.
