Lois Sacket

February 25, 1933 — July 23, 2018

ENID, formerly Aline

Lois Pauline Sacket, 85, was born February 25, 1933 in Ellis County in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Charles and Gladys (Newlin) White and passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at Greenbrier Village in Enid, Oklahoma.

When Lois was two years old, her father passed away due to a kick from a horse.  Her mother later married Charles Godfrey who served as her stepfather until his death at an older age.  Lois grew up on farms in Arkansas and Oklahoma and graduated from Cleo Springs High School.  During high school, Lois and her sister, Doris were pretty well known for their softball and basketball skills.  She married Billy R. Sacket of Aline on January 26, 1952 in Alva.  Billy or Bill, as most called him, worked in construction until drafted into the United States Army.  During that time Lois gave birth to their first child, Billy Jr. and lived with her in-laws on a farm west of Aline.  After Bill’s discharge from the military, they moved to Okmulgee while Bill attended carpentry trade school.  Their daughter, Glenda Pauline “Polly’” was born while at Okmulgee.   From there they moved to Wichita, Kansas during which time their second daughter, Connie was born.  In 1957 they moved back to Aline, where they remained the rest of their lives.  In 1959 Lois gave birth to twins, Gary and Terry, bringing the total number of children to five.

During the early years when the children were growing up, Lois raised large gardens, sewed, was involved in Cub Scouts and Bible School, sold Compton Encyclopedias, took the agriculture census, sold Tupperware and sold Sarah Coventry.  When the children were a little older, Lois attended classes at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva and gained an LPN nursing degree at Woodward.  She worked as a nurse at the Carmen Home in Carmen for approximately nine months, quitting to care for her ailing mother-in-law at Lois and Bill’s home.  Lois later sold Home Interiors products at home parties and shows.  She also enjoyed creating silk flower arrangements and selling them to area furniture stores for retail sales.

Lois is survived by three sons, Billy Sacket, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Aline, Gary Sacket and wife, Ruth of Aline and Terry Sacket and wife, DeAnne of Lahoma; two daughters, Polly Young and husband, David of Sparks and Connie Shreck and husband, Ray of Blackwell; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one sister, Doris Glenn of Cocoa Beach, Florida and one brother, Paul White of Cherokee and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
