Helena- Graveside service for Leola Schmidt, 84, will be Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Good Hope Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday from 4:00 until 6:00.
Leola was born on November 5, 1928 in Carrier to Otis Jantz and Lizzie Johnson Jantz and passed from this life on March 17, 2013 in Enid. She went to Riverside Grade School and attended Oklahoma Bible Academy High School. Leola married Waldo Schmidt on December 5, 1948 at the New Hopedale Mennonite Church north of Ringwood. She was a cook at several schools across the area. Leola had lived in the area approximately 52 years, moving from Ft. Cobb. She enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting and tatting.
Those who survive Leola are her four children, Donald, Ron, Jim and Linda Ferrell and husband, Monty; two brothers, Phillip Jantz and wife, Bonnie and Carl Jantz and wife, Dorothy; five grandchildren, Jessy Ferrell, Jessica Ferrell Julia Ferrell, Melissa Schmidt, Damon Schmidt; two great grandchildren, Braiden Kyler, and Ashton Ferrell.
Those who preceded Leola in death include her parents, Otis and Lizzie Jantz; one son, Arnold; four brothers, Leonard, Danver, Teddy and Glenn; four sisters, Virginia, Edna, Lavera and Clara.
