Keith Harmon

October 31, 1958 — November 16, 2019

Cherokee

Keith Edward Harmon left this earth with family by his side and entered into his eternal resting place on November 16, 2019.  He was born on October 31, 1958 in Plainville, Kansas to Edward Dale and Florence Young Harmon.

He married Rashelle Metcalf on April 22, 1983 and to their union two children were born, Kelsie Marie Harmon and Seth Ryan Harmon.

On April 21, 1995 Keith married Tammy Lemmon at San Antonio, Texas.  On that date, Keith, Tammy, Kelsie and Seth became a family.  Keith told Tammy that his children would always be number one, but that was one of the many things Tammy admired about Keith.  Keith was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.  On many occasions Keith did without so he could provide for his family.

Keith was a lifelong welder by trade and was known for being a perfectionist.  He always said a piece of work would have his name on it forever and he took great pride in a job well done.  In Keith’s younger years, he traveled the Country with his good friend, Klay Goodwin, staying in man camps and welding for many companies.  Keith lastly traveled to Brighton, Colorado in 2003 and welded for the Haliburton Company for three years before returning home.  After returning home, he continued to weld for local companies and farmers until he finally learned the art of punching the clock and worked for Alfalfa County District No. 1 from June of 2017 until he was no longer able to work due to his health.  His last day of work was on August 12, 2019, only two days prior to learning that he had terminal liver cancer and would not be able to return to work.

Keith enjoyed horses, hunting and fishing, or anything that kept him outdoors with family and friends.  He also enjoyed an occasional trip to one of the local casinos and was quite vocal with the machines.  In winning times, Tammy would hear him say, “that’s it sweetheart, keep it up” and in losing times, Tammy would hear him say, “why you dirty dog.”  Keith also loved playing a “very” friendly game of pitch with the family.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, Edward Dale Harmon and Florence Young Harmon and his sister, Barbara Beach.

Keith is survived by his wife, Tammy; his son, Seth Ryan Harmon and fiancee’, Carson Tullis and his grandchildren, Brently Dale Harmon and Aubree Michelle Harmon, all of Cherokee; his daughter, Kelsie Marie Harmon and his  grandchildren, Callie Marie Schartz and Carter Michael Schartz of Great Bend, Kansas; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, David Lemmon and Melva Lemmon; his siblings, Sherry  Lowden, Louise Kirkpatrick (Rob), Debra Engle, Nancy Harmon, Larry Harmon, Ronald Harmon, Robert Harmon, Jeffrey Harmon and brothers-in-law, Marion Beach, Rick Lemmon and Mike Lemmon and numerous nieces and nephews.
