HARDTNER-Judith Lea Clough Spencer was born in Wakita, Oklahoma to Seth (Pat) Clough and Nona Stiles Clough on September 30, 1938. Judy departed this earthly life on June 5, 2013 at Integris Bass Hospital in Oklahoma City. Her last few weeks were filled with a great deal of precious family time with daughter, LaShawn Lea Spencer; grandson, Seth Duran; granddaughter, Sienna Whipple and many other friends and family. Funeral service will be Monday, June 10, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alva Wesleyan Church in Alva, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Hardtner-Elwood Cemetery.
Judy attended Wakita High School graduating in 1956. She attended Wesley Nursing School in Wichita, Kansas and obtained her degree as a registered nurse. She worked at the Anthony Hospital for about 10 years as a surgical nurse. Later moving to Guthrie, Oklahoma to work as an RN at the Job Corp in Guthrie. Finishing her working life, Judy worked for a few years in Wakita at the Wakita Nursing Home as an RN. She and Ronald Lee Spencer were united in holy matrimony in the Wakita Christian Church on June 25, 1966. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, LaShawn. Shortly after being wed the couple moved to Guthrie, while Ron took a job for the Oklahoma State Health Department. Ron and Judy were enthused by nature and spent a great amount of time especially in their later years out watching wild life as well as making the short drive to the Great Salt Plains to observe their favorite creatures in their natural environment. In addition to nature watching Judy and Ron especially enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren; Seth and Sienna, other family and friends, as well as going to church and the occasional fishing outing. The year 2000 was a special year in the lives of Judy and Ron, as he retired from the Oklahoma work force, they moved to Hardtner, Kansas to persue the finer things in life. Judy spent time with friends and was active in the community after the death of her beloved husband, Ronald Spencer on July 11, 2007. Judy attended Wakita First Christian church, Guthrie Assembly of God, and in her retirement years attended the Cedar Grove Wesleyan Methodist Church with her husband, Ronald Lee Spencer and family. Judy was always an active and healthy woman until the last 3 weeks of her amazing life on this earth, she lived life to the fullest and was always a caregiver to others.
Judy is survived by her daughter, LaShawn Spencer; grandson, Seth Duran; granddaughter, Sienna Whipple; Aunt Neva Wilhite of Alva and a host of other relatives and friends, and not to forget adored pet, snowball.
Judy will be deeply missed by all that knew her and will always be remembered for her caring and kindness for others in the beauty of Gods’ world.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00p.m.
Memorials may be made to Hardtner Senior Center, Hardtner Pool or Hardtner Library and given to the funeral home.
