HAZELTON-Joe A. Burnett, 82, passed away on May 6, 2014 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital. Graveside service will be Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Joe was born in Woods county, Oklahoma to Sam and Bessie Stowe Burnett on December 9, 1931. He grew up on the farm and graduated from Oakwood High School. He served in the United State Navy. Upon his discharge he applied with Santa Fe Railroad where he worked until his retirement. He and Shirley VanVranken were united in marriage on June 17, 1957, they lived in Kiowa for a few years and moved to Hazelton in 1966. They were married for 57 years with a joyous heart the welcomed their children, Takita and Vincent. They enjoyed their country life in Hazelton surrounded by family and friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leon Burnett; daughter, Darla Burnett.
He is survived by Takita Stone and husband, Russell of Sharon, Kansas and Vincent Burnett and wife, Jamie of Wichita, Kansas; three grandchildren Jason Lawson, Jacob Burnett, Bailey Burnett all of Wichita, Kansas.
