Cherokee-Funeral service for Jerry Utterback will be Monday, March 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Cherokee with Rev. Tom Cooksey officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery near Amorita. Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee is in charge of arrangements. Memories may be shared at wwwlanmanmemorials.com. Viewing will be Monday 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home and 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church.
Jerry was born in Cherokee on June 28, 1945, the son of Ivan and Nola Beadman Utterback and passed from this life on February 27, 2013 in Kiowa, Kansas. He was a cross country truck driver for twenty years and had worked at Cherokee Sale Barn. He and Loretta Kraft were married and most of his life was spent living in the Alva-Cherokee area. He was an FFA lifetime member, raised show pigs and participated in stock shows with children and grandchildren. He loved to fish.
Those who have preceded Jerry in death are his parents; his brother, Doc and two sisters, Dixie and Nola.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Loretta; four children, Rocky Corr, Betty Cheatham and husband, James, Michael Utterback and wife, Delinda and Jeanie Montoya and husband, Michael; one brother, Bill Utterback; two sisters, Norma Clark and Pearl Murrow; eight grandchildren, Jesse Birdshead, Josh Birdshead, Patsy Montoya, James Montoya, John Montoya, Shai’Ann Cheatham, Waylon Utterback and Everette Utterback.
Memorials may be made to the funeral home on the family’s behalf to help cover the cost of expenses.
