Jerry Lagrow

Jerry LaGrow, 79, of Jet, Oklahoma, departed this life to be with the Lord on March 9, 2017, two days shy of his 80th birthday. Jerry was born March 11, 1937 in Cherokee to Francis and Eunice LaGrow. He attended and graduated from Jet High School, where he was a four-year starter on the football team and served as the team captain his senior year.

After graduating high school, Jerry attended Oklahoma A&M College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Connie Joan Shaklee, on July 13, 1957. Together they moved back to their home town of Jet to begin their life of farming and raising a family. Jerry and Connie were married for 59 wonderful years.

Jerry worked for the law firm of Morford and Benson for 43 years as an accountant. He also used his accounting skills by serving as treasurer for various clubs and organizations. Jerry served on the Jet-Nash School Board and the Alfalfa County ASCS board. He was a Lions Club treasurer for 37 years. He served as a Jet UMC trustee and was a Farm Trust member, a Lay Leader, a District Lay Servant Speaker and a long-time adult Sunday school teacher. He thoroughly enjoyed giving sermons to the surrounding community churches.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Eunice LaGrow.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Connie of Jet; daughter, Penny Gregory and husband, Ron of Houston, Texas and son, Jeff LaGrow and wife, Alana of Edmond. His five cherished grandsons include Blake LaGrow and wife, Jennifer of Edmond, Tyler Gregory and wife, Lauren of Houston, Texas, Daniel Gregory of Dallas, Texas, Austin LaGrow of Edmond, and Collin LaGrow and wife, Barbara of Dallas, Texas. Jerry also leaves behind two great grandsons, Tripp and Dax LaGrow of Edmond, and numerous friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be held at the Jet United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m.
