James Richard Knopf

August 23, 1951 - March 7, 2025

James “Jim” Richard Knopf was born to Aristides “Bud” and Ruth Myrick Knopf on August 23, 1951. He attended Burlington Public Schools and graduated in 1969. Jim attended college at Oklahoma State University for two years majoring in Engineering and Agricultural Engineering and then returned home to work with his dad on the family farm. In the early 1980’s, Jim purchased some land for farming. He continued working with his dad until 2011, when his dad, Bud, passed away.

Jim liked to do puzzles, woodworking, gardening, planting trees, and learning about new varieties of wheat for planting. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Jim liked to talk about helping his dad with custom harvesting and about the different sites and adventures they would have on days they couldn’t harvest due to weather.

Jim passed away on March 7, 2025 in Alva at Beadles Nursing home at the age of 73 years 6 months and 12 days with family present.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Gene (Ellen) Knopf; his nephew, John (Ashley) Kerfoot; niece, Christy Kerfoot-Tidwell and Scott Tidwell; great nephews, Clay and Noah Kerfoot; great niece, Marleigh Tidwell; aunt, Darlene Uber, and many other relatives and friends.

Service for James Knopf will be Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Cherokee with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc, of Cherokee. www.lanmanfuneralhome.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.
