Herman Jan Demuth, age 83, of South Charleston, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on July 16, 1937 in Sublette, Kansas to the late Francis A. and Alice L. (Anderson) Demuth. Jan leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 41 years, Linda (McGowan) Demuth; children, Susan (Steve) Evans, Karen (Joe) Klumpp, Melissa (Brian) Gilley, Erin (Ricard) Kelly Jeremy (Amanda) Demuth, Tim Lannert and Joseph Lannert; a sister, Anna (James) Cousins; eighteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Jan retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after more than 21 dedicated years in the United States Air Force. While serving in the USAF, two of his many awards were the Air Force Commendation Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Meritorious Service Medal (First Oak Leaf Cluster). He went on to retire for a second time from the Federal Aviation Administration as a Flight Safety Inspector. He was an avid marksman and looked forward to the annual Oklahoma pheasant hunting trip with his family and friends. Jan will be sorely missed by those who knew him.
