Helen Elaine Roth Murrow was born March 17, 1926, the daughter of Henry Louis Roth and Martha Ann Farney Roth. She was received into her Lord's arms on November 17, 2014 at the age of 88. She was born on her family's farm east of Kiowa and spent most of her life in this community. She worked at various jobs including Duckwall's, the airplane plant, a furniture store in Wellington and then Peoria, Illinois. Following a short stay there, she returned home and soon married Gerald "Bud" Leo Murrow on July 24, 1947. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Gayle Elaine, Janet Lea and Lynne Marie. Helen gave her life to Jesus and joined the Apostolic Christian Church at Burlington, Oklahoma in the spring of 1951. She was a homemaker until she began helping Bud with Murrow Construction in 1976. Throughout their lives, they enjoyed trips to Illinois to see Helen's family, Colorado and several other states. In their retirement, they especially enjoyed their winters in Texas and made many good friends there. Helen lived her faith and loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Roth and wife, Laverne; her sister, Delma Ziegenhorn and husband, Bernard; her sister, Esther Terry and husband, Charles; a brother-in-law, Melvin Weyeneth and a granddaughter, Jeanette Elaine Robb.
Helen will be greatly missed by her husband, Bud of Kiowa; her daughters, Gayle Robb of Cunningham, Janet Smith and husband, Burton of Kiowa and Lynne Johnson and husband, Shawn of Kiowa; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Leona Weyeneth of Washington, Illinois; nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church of Kiowa through the funeral home.
Helen's funeral service will be Friday, November 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Kiowa Apostolic Christian Church with burial at Riverview Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with family present 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
