Red was born on September 15, 1934 in Blackwell to Stephen S. Stockton and Mary Olive Mills Stockton and passed from this life on October 4, 2014 in Tulsa. Red joined the U.S. Army in March 1955 after graduating from Medford High School. He arrived in the European Theatre in March 1956. As an Army Paratrooper he parachuted over Denmark, got separated from his unit and was taken to the Queen of Denmark. The Queen made arrangements for Harold to rejoin his unit. When military life was over Red became a custom cutter. He then moved to Denver, where he met and married Mary O'Keefe. Red and Mary moved to Okmulgee in 1972, then back to Medford and their final destination was Wakita. He drove a Star mail route from town to town across north central Oklahoma. Red taught Sunday School at the Second Baptist Church in Okmulgee and the First Baptist Church in Medford. Red enjoyed writing poetry. Most of Red's poetry was written in story form. He strived to reflect a spiritual message in his poetry interlocked with nature and everyday happenings in the world around us.
