HARDTNER-Graveside service for Gloria Piersall will be Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Hardtner-Elwwod Cemetery.
Gloria Merritt Piersall passed away in Hardtner, Kansas at the age of 93. She was born in Keene, New Hampshire to Francis Merritt and Myrtie Robertson Merritt on August 21, 1921. Her childhood, high school and college years were spent in Massachusetts and Vermont. While teaching near Boston in February 1944, she met Staff Sgt. Leland "Doc" Piersall, and married him a year later in February 1945. In 1946 they moved to Hardtner, Kansas where they spent 63 happy years together before his death in February 2008. She taught for forty years before her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, her older brother, and her only sister.
She is survived by her younger brother, Dr. Francis Merritt and a host of nephews and nieces.
Honoring Gloria's wishes there will be no viewing.
Memorials may be made to the Hardtner Library or Hardtner Methodist Church and given to the funeral home.
