Fairview - George Jerry Nelson passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Fairview Fellowship Home at the age of 84. George was born on April 12, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia to Erris and Mary Nelson. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He married Lavawn Schultz on February 28, 1952. Their union was blessed with two children.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1976 and made Enid his home. He enjoyed music, books and was the sharpest pitch player.
George is survived by his son, Paul Nelson and wife, Lynn and his daughter, Patricia Koehn and husband, Steven. Also surviving him are seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10:00 at Lanman Chapel in Helena with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Meno. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
