Gaylen Stover

Gaylen Stover was born on March 3, 1947 in Long Beach, California to Walter and Mary Stover. He passed from this life at his home in Medford, Oklahoma on July 29, 2016 at the age of 69.

He moved with his parents to Medford in 1948. Gaylen was a carpenter and homebuilder. He was very fond of animals, volunteering for Medford activities, and was a staunch supporter of Medford's sporting events. He enjoyed occupying his time on his computer, keeping up with his friends on Facebook, and eating his meals at Margie's where he could visit with people. Gaylen loved to go to rodeos and to watch the finals in Las Vegas. He looked forward to attending reunions with his Army buddies. He was conscientious when it came to personally keeping in touch with relatives by making trips to Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Gaylen was a member of the Medford Lion's Club and Grant County Historical Society.

Gaylen served in the Army in 1968-1969 during the Vietnam Conflict. During this time he received several special commendations. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1969.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Walter and Mary Stover. Survivors include his three sisters: Carol Stover-Aguilar and husband, Refugio of Dallas, Texas; Jan and Ray Harris of Denton, Texas; Susan and Roger Mossman of Council Grove, Kansas. Gaylen's nephews and nieces are: Austin and Felicia Harris, Gavin Harris, Alisha Mossman, and Ryan and Ginnie Mossman. Great nephews and nieces are: Riley, Samantha, Halle, Paige, Mindy, Derek, Casey, Grant, and Hannah.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Medford Methodist Church basement. All of Gaylen's friends are welcome to attend and share some remembrances of him.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) - Heart Division through the funeral home.
