Enid, formerly Jet-Funeral service for Francis Metcalf, 95, will be Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Jet United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Irby and Jerry LaGrow officiating. Burial will follow at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Viewing will be Saturday at the church before the service.
Francis was born on September 17, 1918 in Cherokee to Francis Marion Mason and Ethel Ora Leonard Mason and passed from this life on September 15, 2014 in Enid. She graduated from Jet High School. On July 28, 1936 she married Clifton Earl Metcalf. To this union four children were born: Glenda, Pat, Dale and Jody. Francis worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Attorney Pete Keltch and for the Jet School System. She lived on the family farm near Jet from 1936 until she moved to Enid in 1990. Francis was a great cook and loved family get-togethers. She enjoyed several hobbies including quilting, scrapbooking, playing bridge, and she loved socializing with her friends. She was a member of the Jet United Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Earl and one sister, Geraldine Hays.
Survivors include her children, Glenda Metcalf of Enid, Pat Yoder of Enid, Dale Metcalf of Oklahoma City and Jody Cline and husband, Jack of Enid; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to Jet United Methodist Women through the funeral home.
