Ferral Ann McKay
April 24, 1946 - February 10, 2025
Ferral Ann McKay, 78, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, in Enid, Oklahoma. Born in Enid on April 24, 1946, to Ora 'Pete' Lochner and Maralee Lochner, Ferral was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her.
Ferral graduated from Enid High School in 1964, where she led as a drum majorette and twirler. She continued her education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where she not only earned a master's degree in elementary education with a minor in mathematics but also left a legacy as the first Miss NWOSU and Miss Twirl Oklahoma. Her passion for performance and education led her to a fulfilling career in teaching, spanning nearly 40 years, mostly spent in the Helena Goltry School District where she also served as a cheerleading, drill team, and pep rally sponsor.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Ferral married Mike McKay, and they shared 57 wonderful years together. She is survived by her husband Mike; children Tisha Cusick and her husband Brandon of Newton, Kansas, Gina McKay of Enid, Oklahoma, and Jett McKay and his wife Laura of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren Bryan, Gavin, Mackenzie, McKennah, Rhys, and Sydnee; and great-grandchild Remington Michael. Ferral is also survived by her brother, Bill Lochner of Enid.
An avid gardener, scrapbooker, and sewer, Ferral cherished camping and partaking in activities with her children and grandchildren, and valued her coffee times with her lifelong friend, Mum Pettus. Her faith in Jesus was profound, as evidenced by her active membership at the First United Methodist Church in Helena. Ferral also looked forward to her weekly Thursday outings with her sisters-in-law and their annual trips to Branson, Missouri.
Services to celebrate Ferral’s life will be held at Good Hope Cemetery in Helena, Oklahoma, on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
