Cherokee-Funeral service for Everette Coontz, 96, will be Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Cherokee with Father Cory Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at Short Springs Cemetery between Alva and Cherokee with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Everette was born on August 13, 1918 in Lambert to Ivan and Ida Coontz and passed from this life on December 29, 2014 in Okeene. He married Hazel Pullan on April 23, 1983. Everette spent his lifetime in this area being a farmer. He was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Cherokee.
Survivors include his stepson, Tommy Pullan and wife, Shirley of Fairview; step daughters, Glenda Halper and husband, Mike of Fredonia, Kansas and Jannie Cates and husband, Bruce of Mannford; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Those who preceded Everette in death include his wife, Hazel; brother, John; sister, Margie; grandkids, Kathy and Carl and great grandchild, Hartley.
