Everett Ferda

July 18, 1930 — June 19, 2013

Wakita-Funeral service for Everett Lee Ferda, 82, will be Saturday, June, 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Wakita. Viewing will be at the church on Friday from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

He was born on July 18, 1930 in Caldwell, Kansas to Melo Ferda and Frances Buresh Ferda and passed from this life on June 19, 2013 in Enid. Everett married Rose Cullop on December 23, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas. In 1953 they moved to the farm and have lived in the same house since that time. He was the janitor at the church for thirteen years. Everett raised wheat and cattle, served on the Co-op Board for ten years, the Wakita Community Health Center Board, various church boards and was the American Legion Commander in Wakita for about thirty years. Everett also drove the Wakita School bus for thirteen years. He was a member of the Wakita United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rose of Wakita; two children, Debra Martin and husband, Jerry of Denton, Texas and Shirley McCurry and husband, Mike of Ponca City; siblings, Johnnie Ferda and wife, Caroline of Bluff City, Kansas, Dorothy Williamson and husband, Wayne of Medford; three grandchildren, Katrina Klein and husband, Aaron, Miranda Patterson and husband, Aaron and Wesley Glenn McCurry and wife, Brooke; five great grandchildren, Hunter Lee and Jacob William Klein, Aiden Michael Maurice Patterson, Avery Rose and Jillian Ruth McCurry.

Those who preceded Everett in death include his parents.

Memorials may be given to Wakita Community Health Center through the funeral home.
