Ernest Haynes Miller of Kiowa, Kansas lost his battle with cancer Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Congregational Church in Kiowa at 11:00 a.m. with Bud Ruggia and Pat Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation with family will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Haynes was born September 26, 1936 to Gerald Miller and Helen Hatfield Miller. They resided on a farm west of Anthony, Kansas, and he graduated from Anthony High School. He spent a short time in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He married Frankie Sue Skaggs December 6, 1958 in Kiowa. They lived a short time in Wichita and then began farming in the Hazelton area in 1959. They moved to Kiowa in 1962 and continued expanding their farming and ranching operation through the years.
Haynes is a member of Kiowa's Congregational Church and served on the board in earlier years. He is a member of the Cosmos Masonic Lodge in Kiowa.
He is survived by his wife, Frankie Sue of Kiowa; son, Jeff Miller and wife, Yvonne of Kiowa; daughter, Suzy Miller Powell and companion, Joe Pinter of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren, Seth Powell and fiance, Piper Wray, Taylor Powell and Elizabeth Miller; brother David Miller and wife, Rhonda of Attica and sister-in-law, Barbara Miller of Anthony.
Those preceding him in death include his parents, Gerald and Helen and brother, Jerry Miller.
