Ellen Butler

August 20, 1925 — March 25, 2015

Kiowa-Ellen May Butler was born August 20, 1925 on a farm west of Carrier, Oklahoma to parents, Orville Quigley and Nina Eakin Quigley. She departed this life on March 25, 2015 at Kiowa District Manor. She was raised in the Carrier area and graduated from high school there, then attended one year at Phillips University in Enid. Ellen and Robert L. "Bob" Butler were married in Carrier on January 17, 1944. This is where they made their home until 1955 when they moved to Kiowa, Kansas. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She belonged to the American Legion and VFW. She will be remembered as being a wonderful cook, caring mother, proud grandmother, and as having a beautiful soprano voice. Ellen is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. "Bob" Butler, to whom she was married 57 years.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Kay Butler and husband, Dave Edington of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Karen Miazga and husband, Dr. John Miazga of San Angelo, Texas; one son, Ken Butler of Kiowa; three grandchildren, Darin Harper and wife, Jessica and their children, Kacey and Jordan of Lincoln, Nebraska, Andrew Miazga of Annapolis, Maryland and Brenna Miazga of San Angelo, Texas; two brothers, O. R. Quigley and wife, Colleen and John Quigley and wife, Johnie, all of Enid, Oklahoma; one sister, Elma Edington and husband, Gary of Denver, Colorado. One of the things of which she was most proud were her three grandchildren who have each earned a Master's Degree.

There will be viewing at Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., followed by burial in Riverview Cemetery
