Celebration of Life
Eileen Schmidt
9/29/1938 - 4/23/2025
Eileen Schmidt passed from this life on April 23, 2025 in Kiowa, Kansas. She was the second born and oldest daughter of four children born to her parents Frank and Mary Stockert. Although being born in Charbonneau, North Dakota, she was raised in Solen, North Dakota and graduated high school there. She met her future husband, Raymond, during wheat harvest season and a long-distance relationship turned into marriage in Solen on November 7, 1955. They were best friends in marriage for 61 years. After starting their family in Attica, KS., they later moved to Sharon KS in 1961.
Eileen was a supermom before there were supermoms. Having four children in five years along with taking care of all the housework and meals as well as all her family’s needs was quite impressive. On top of that, she also owned and operated several businesses in town. These included the Sharon Sundries, Rays Welding as office manager, Eileen’s Body Tune-up Station, Spa and natural healthcare services. In addition to those she also worked for Sharon Locker, D&E Dry goods and for Womack Dentistry as a dental assistant and was a certified EMT. She enjoyed them all along with being active in community and school activities. Eileen was a member of the St Boniface Alter Society, she was a CYO teacher, and a sacristan. She also enjoyed being a member of the Greater Barber County Historical Society. She especially loved being involved as a Kansas Senior Olympian. Eileen was a great example to all for faith, family and community. She was an exceptionally hard worker and a great neighbor and friend to all. She was a mom beyond compare. She will be greatly missed by all who know her.
She is survived by children, Doug (Cindy), Anthony, Kansas; Dan (Dee), Hays, Kansas; Dave (Karen), Burleson, Texas, and Deanna (Kevin), Ft. Collins, Colorado. She also had eighteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and sister Virginia Pinard.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Schmidt; her parents, Frank and Mary Stockert; her brother, Fr. Hal Stockert; her sister, Marilyn Keller; daughter-in-law.
