Earl Wayne Frech, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024, at The Living Center in Enid, surrounded by his loving wife, Doris, and devoted family.
Born on March 31, 1945, to Robert and Olive Jane Frech, Earl Wayne grew up with a deep sense of duty and patriotism. After graduating from Carmen High School, he served honorably in the Army for nearly two years, reflecting his profound love for his country.
In 1968 Earl Wayne married Donna Means, and together they raised two children, Kevin and Kerri. His diverse career included years of farming and working at the Helena prison. In 1986 he purchased the Dairy Boy, where he became known for his remarkable skill in cutting up chicken—a task he could perform in an impressive 47 seconds. Through this venture, he served countless meals and imparted valuable lessons to many young people.
Earl Wayne’s commitment to his community extended beyond his professional life. He was a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Carmen Fire Department for many years, offering selfless service as a first responder. His faith and service also played a central role in his life; he was an active member of the Carmen Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years, contributing to the spiritual growth and well-being of his church community.
In 1995 Earl Wayne transferred to the Bill Johnson Correctional Facility, where he was instrumental in its opening and development. He took great pride in the kitchen programs he established and retired in 2007 after a distinguished 40-year career in corrections.
On August 5, 2000, Earl Wayne married Doris Knight, who brought into his life her daughter Diana and three grandchildren: Cody, Ashley, and Briana. Throughout their twenty-four years of marriage, Earl Wayne and Doris enjoyed traveling, including an Alaskan cruise, trips to Canada, and frequent visits to Branson, his favorite getaway.
Earl Wayne is preceded in death by his father, Robert; mother, Olive Jane, and brother, Darrell.
